SUMMARY:The Feeling of Space: A Talk with Christopher Bardt
DESCRIPTION:How do the spaces we inhabit shape the way we experience the world? And what happens when we begin to think of space as something we feel\, rather than simply something we occupy? \nJoin Helms Design District and Material Encounters for an evening with architect\, educator\, and author Christopher Bardt\, celebrating his latest book\, The Feeling of Space\, published by MIT Press. \nReturning to Helms following his 2023 conversation about Material and Mind\, Bardt invites us to reconsider our relationship with the built environment. Drawing on architecture\, art\, philosophy\, and technology\, his richly illustrated book explores how our understanding of space has evolved over centuries and why our emotional and sensory connections to the places around us matter more than ever. \nAt a time when digital experiences increasingly shape how we interact\, Bardt offers a compelling perspective on the importance of physical space\, human connection\, and our sense of belonging. \nWhether you’re an architect\, designer\, artist\, or simply curious about how the environments around us influence everyday life\, this promises to be a thought-provoking evening of ideas and conversation. \nAbout Christopher Bardt\nChristopher Bardt\, AIA\, is an architect\, author\, and professor of architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design. He is a founding principal of 3SIXØ Architecture\, and his work explores the relationships among materials\, creativity\, perception\, and the human experience of space. \nEvent Details\nThursday\, November 5\, 2026\nDoors open: 6:30 pm\nAuthor Talk: 7–9 pm \nPlease RSVP below.
