SoCalNOMA’s mission is to increase the diversity\, equity\, and inclusion of the architecture profession\, to support our members to amplify their voices and expand their connections to the Southern California community at large\, and to increase the pipeline of diverse architects entering the profession in the future. \nThe works in the exhibition represent a sampling of the tremendous contributions of minority architects and designers to the built environment here in Los Angeles and beyond. Works presented encompass designs of all scales from single family residential\, to commercial\, and urban planning. The installation includes projects from 30+ SoCalNOMA members\, projects from student members from local architecture schools\, and “future architects” that have participated in the SoCalNOMA project pipeline summer camp. \nThe exhibition will remain on display from December 2nd through the 17th with the gallery open to the public from 2:00 to 6:00 PM Wednesday to Sunday each week. \nFor updated information\, please visit the SoCal NOMA website.

SUMMARY:Gallery Opening + Discussion with photographer Cynthia Alexandra and Jason E. C. Wright
DESCRIPTION:Free\nOn Thursday\, October 7th at 6:00 pm\, please join us for the opening of ‘ALCHEMY’ the first public exhibition of works from Los Angeles-based portrait and commercial photographer\, Cynthia Alexandra. The opening reception will feature a Q&A with the artist hosted by Jason E.C. Wright of Burntsienna Research Society. \nThe presentation is informed by a definition of ‘Divine Alchemy’ : “Divine alchemy is the art of transmutation\, the application of spiritual consciousness to physical form\, so profound that an entirely new form evolves. It is an irreversible change. A transformation that requires patience\, courage and a belief in the power of spirit above all else.” The exhibition features portraits of women who have transmuted challenges in their personal journey to empower others; they stand at various points of their own personal evolutions; some fully-formed\, others still in process\, but all firmly on the precipice of their next phase of embodiment. \nCLICK HERE TO RSVP AND SECURE A TICKET\nWith respect to public health\, the opening reception will proceed with limited space. All guests must register to attend. Masks will be required inside the gallery and throughout the event. If you do not have a mask\, we will provide one upon check-in. Thanks for your support! \nAbout the Artist\nCynthia Alexandra is a self-taught photographer based in Los Angeles. She has always found herself inspired by images that capture the essence of a subject; pulling the viewer in\, eliciting a visceral\, emotional connection to the moment and to the image. Her practice and approach find her doing the same; drawing as much inspiration from Hilma Af Klimt\, fashion editorials\, and surreal portraiture\, as she does from the subtle\, inherent magic in the people\, places and things around her. \nAbout the Facilitator\nJason E.C. Wright is Founder and Director at Burntsienna Research Society\, an Institute of Design Research and Critical Thought. After twenty years in the fashion retail industry\, Jason E.C. Wright shifted from consulting in operations and product development\, to quietly establishing Burntsienna Research Society.
