DESCRIPTION:Join us on Thursday\, May 7th\, for a lecture and live Q+A discussion with Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample from MOS\nIn collaboration with the Cal Poly LA Metro Program in Architecture and Urban Design \nLecture is Free and Open to the Public \nRegister for the  Zoom Webinar\n\nMichael Meredith and Hilary Sample are architects and founders of MOS. They met at Syracuse University where they each received a Bachelor of Architecture (1994). Michael Meredith received a Master of Architecture with Distinction from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University (2000). Hilary Sample received a Master of Architecture and the Suzanne Kolarik Thesis prize from Princeton University (2003). Currently\, Michael Meredith is a professor of architecture at Princeton University. His previous teaching positions include professorships at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design (2004-2011)\, the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Architecture\, Landscape and Design (2001-2004) and a Muschenheim Teaching Fellowship at the University of Michigan (2000-01). Hilary Sample is presently a professor at Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture Planning and Preservation and has previously taught at Yale University\, the State University of New York at Buffalo as the Reyner Banham Teaching Fellow (2004- 05)\, and at the University of Toronto Faculty of Architecture\, Landscape and Design (2003-04). \nTogether they have been visiting critics at the University of Southern California\, Martell Lecturers at SUNY Buffalo\, Fitzhugh Scott Endowed Chairs in Design Excellence at the School of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee\, and were the inaugural chairs for the University of Michigan Taubman College Practice Sessions. \n\nIntroduced and moderated by Stephen Phillips\, AIA\, PhD\, Principal of Stephen Phillips Architects (SPARCHS) and professor\, director\, Cal Poly LA Metro Program in Architecture and Urban Design (California Polytechnic State University\, San Luis Obispo) \ncalpolylametro.com \nPhotos (Left to Right): Image of Michael Meredith and Hilary Sample (An Interior Magazine); Image of House No. 2 Floating House; Image of Housing No. 4.

DESCRIPTION:Free – Please RSVP\nOn Thursday\, May 23rd\, from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm\, Helms Bakery District and the Cal Poly LA Metro Program in Architecture and Urban Design will host a reception\, lecture\, and discussion with Sylvia Lavin on “Trees\, Mountains and Clouds – Preliminary Notes on Atmospheric Perspective” \n\nSylvia Lavin \nSylvia Lavin is a historian\, critic and curator of architecture and design. \nShe received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 1990 and the MIT Press published her first books Quatremère de Quincy and the Invention of a Modern Language of Architecture and Form Follows Libido: Architecture and Richard Neutra in a Psychoanalytic Culture in 1992 and 2005.
