  • Modern Hand Quilting Workshop with Textile Artist Aneesa Shami

    We are excited to welcome our artist-in-residence this summer, Aneesa Shami, who will camp out inside the Helms Design Center to continue her work on pieces from her "Syndication" series, as well as offer a suite of three workshops as part of the Helms fine art series, remnant & artifacts.

  • Opening Exhibition with Artist Liza Philosof at the Helms Design Center

    On Thursday, November 15th from  7 to 10 pm, please join us for the opening event - L A Y E R S – the first solo exhibition by Liza Philosof to take place in Los Angeles.

    L A Y E R S contains paintings made by Philosof between 2015 and 2018, along with a video made last year during an art residence on Pico Island.  One of the major inspiration sources for the artist was her visit to Pico Island and being surrounded by 3 elements: water, basalt stone, and plants. Some paintings are drawn with markers on canvas, with most of the paintings produced with acrylics during the summer of 2018.

    Join us on Saturday, March 9th, from 11 am to 5 pm, for a day of free screenings of over 24 short films showcasing architecture and design. Pop into any of the eight participating showrooms on the walk, including Arcana: Books on the Arts, Danish Design Store, H.D. Buttercup, Louis Poulsen, Rejuvenation, Room & Board, Scandinavian Designs, and Vitra to experience a unique program of films curated by the Architecture & Design Film Festival.
